Come to the 100 Night of Dads!
The telescopes probably wont’ be up according to the weather forecast, but I’ll have some “virtual observatories” running in the Planetarium Classroom. Come on by!
No Astronomy Night Tonight – 1/27/12
80% cloud coverage and thunderstorms are predicted for tonight – so stay home. I’ll be setting up telescopes next Friday for the 100 Days of Dads event – keep your fingers crossed that the skies will cooperate!

Control A Telescope From Home (Before Bedtime!)
Thanks to everyone who came out Friday night. We had to dodge a few clouds, but it was worth it! Jupiter, the Orion Nebula, and the Andromeda Galaxy were all observed, along with a few other objects. We will set up again on Friday, January 27 from 6-8, weather permitting. This time, the Moon will be our main attraction (but we will check out a few other things as well!).
In the meantime, would you like to take pictures using a telescope online? Check out this website:

Just click the “Control Telescope” link at the top of the page, and follow along with the steps it gives you. Enter your email address, and you will get a note when your image is taken. Cool!
Come on out!
The sky has cleared and other than one big cloud to the west, it looks like it is going to stay that way. Hope to see you in the courtyard! Remember, come in through the SACC doors and straight down the hall to the second courtyard entrance.
Ok, looking better…
Not ready to say it is a definite go yet, but I am pulling out telescopes and cables. Check back at 5:45pm or so for a final call.
January 13th… Doesn’t look good.
It’s 4:40pm as I write this, and the clouds look like they will be with us later than expected – probably until midnight. My fingers are crossed, but I’m expecting that we won’t have telescopes out tonight. Check back before driving to school!
